ROMEO AND JULIET and THE TEMPEST by BLACKCAT THEATRE COMPANY

Barra Collins is Romeo in ROMEO AND JULIET and Caliban in the TEMPEST. Barra will also be facilitating the TEMPEST workshop.
Black Cat Theatre Company, one of the UK’s premier educational theatre companies will be touring schools with Shakespeare’s tale of star-crossed lovers Romeo & Juliet and the magical Tempest.
Romeo and Juliet and the Tempest will be classically dressed with costumes commissioned from theatrical costumier Carol Mitchell who has designed and created costumes for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
While the considered approach makes it ideal for any students aged 12+. Designed with study in mind, these condensed versions of Shakespeare’s work marry the traditions of travelling players of the period, simple sets and natural lighting.
Following the 70 minute abridged performance, the actors will remain on stage for 20 minutes to give a demonstration of the stage combat skills used throughout the performance, (this has over the years proved to be a huge hit). The actors will also lead a discussion on Character Motivation, Language Analysis and Directors Notes answering any questions that the students may have in order to give them a better understanding of the play.
